The Hedrick Family is doing great. The weather has turned more Spring-like, so we have been getting outside more. This is getting us very excited about summer and all the camping we are going to do with our giant new family tent we got. Last weekend we went on a hike with some friends and the dogs. Jack loves riding in his carrier. He looks around at his surroundings for a while, then falls asleep. Being a baby really is the life, someone carries you everywhere, feeds and changes you at your first cry, you are always cozy and comfortable, and you can fall asleep whenever and wherever. Sounds fun to me. Jay and I took Jack to one of Jay's favorite fishing spots on the Bitterroot River. We hiked up the river for a little while then Jack and I hung out while Jay fished. Jack loves being outside. He looks all around at the river, grass blowing in the wind, and the mountains. This made me so happy to know that our hobbies don't have to stop just because we have a baby, they just have to be adjusted slightly. We have to take turns watching Jack and we have to bring a lot more stuff, but it is so fun to have these experiences with him.
This weekend Jay went fishing with some friends and I took Jack and the dogs to Lake Como where we went for a hike. It was so beautiful out. We stayed at a cabin at Lost Horse Creek Lodge. They have adorable cabins tucked into the Bitterroot Mountains. I checked in before I went and picked up Jay from fishing. I asked the owner about hiking near the cabins and she told me I probably shouldn't hike because last weekend there was a mountain lion hanging out around the cabins. It wasn't normal for it to be so friendly, so she thought it might be sick. There are also a lot of wolves in the area and she said she had not heard them howling in about a week. Needless to say, I didn't go hiking there. We had a great time staying at the cabin. It was nice to get out of town and take Jack to one of our favorite places for a weekend getaway.
Love, Emily
