This week in the Hedrick household has been pretty mellow. Jack discovered his feet. It is quite cute because he likes to put them in his mouth. We had a photographer come to the house to take pictures of Jack. She did some family shots too. Jack was a wonderful little model. He was very well behaved and Annie the photographer loved him, I am sure she says that about all the babies she is taking pictures of. I will get some of those pictures up when we get them. Jay was in major cooperation mode on picture day. For those of you who know Jay, you know that he 1) hates having his picture taken more than anything and 2) he is pretty modest when it comes to his clothing, he doesn't just take his shirt off in front of anyone. I told Jay it was very important to me to have a picture him and Jack together with Jack only in his diaper and Jay with no shirt on. He told me no and I kept pushing (just teasing of course). The photographer got in on it too. She said we could make it a very tasteful picture by putting the lambskin down in front of the fireplace and Jay and Jack could lay on that for the pictures. It was funny watching him squirm until we dropped it.
Jay got some good news on the job front. It sounds like there is a good chance he won't be traveling for work for a while. Typically when his season starts he travels away from Missoula for 16 days a month. I miss him a lot when he is gone for that long, so this is great news. Last weekend he stayed the night at a friend's cabin on a creek outside of town, so I got a tiny taste of what being a single mom is like and it wasn't so fun. This got me thinking about him traveling for 16 days a month and I was really not excited about that. Also, Jack loves Jay so much and I think it would be hard for both of them to be away from each other for that long. So again, Jay working in Missoula is great news.
We send our love to everyone!

I think he looks like a psychiatric ward patient in this picture :)

Welcome To The Hedrick Blog!
So we are joining the Blogging world. This is the 1st post of hopefully many updates on Jack and our life. I in no way expect anyone to read this besides our parents and a few Aunts and Uncles, our lives just aren't that interesting. My goal is to give updates every week or two, we'll see how good I am at keeping this goal. I will try and post new pictures and videos too. I like the blog because I feel like it is more private than Facebook, more of a family and close friend thing. So here goes.
Jack is now 4 months old and he is the cutest, sweetest, most wonderful baby in the whole world :) I know, every mom thinks that about their own baby, but really, he is all of those things and more. He went to the doctor last week for his 4 month well check. The doctor said he looked great and was meeting all of the milestones that he should be meeting. He hates getting vaccines and was fussy for a few days after he got them. I tried to explain to him that they are much less painful than the symptoms of the illnesses that he could get if he isn't vaccinated, but he doesn't quite understand that yet. As of a week ago I thought we were blessed with having a really mellow, calm, laid back baby. I was mistaken. Jack's true personality has finally started to come out. He all of a sudden started being very vocal, screaming and squealing with delight, especially at Jay. He is bouncy, active, and rolly poly. He now objects to things like being burped or having a onsie put on by stiffening his back and doing what we have named "the alligator spin". Currently his favorite hobbies include the following; nursing, reading books, playing in his excercauser, more nursing, swimming and taking walks. He went swimming for the first time the other day and loved it. He is taking swimming lessons with his best friend Dotty next month.
We have done some traveling lately. Jack had his first airplane ride to North Carolina last month. He got to see the ocean and meet all kinds of wonderful relatives. He did great on all of the planes except for the last ride from Salt Lake City to Missoula. We were those people with the baby that everyone on the plane was staring daggers at, just kidding. As long as he was eating, he was happy. My parents came out here last week. Jack and I met them in Whitefish and we went skiing. Jack HATES riding in his car seat which made for a fun 3 hour drive both ways. My mom then came down to Missoula for a few days to watch Jack while Jay and I worked. Jay and I actually got to go on a Valentines date and it was wonderful. Jay is off work right now until the weather gets better and I went back to work at the University of Montana. He is really enjoying being a stay at home dad and he is great at it! Well that's all for now. Hope everyone is doing great!
